The Land Use Ordinance includes a list of PERMITTED uses in each zone and a list of specifically PROHIBITED uses in all zones. In addition, any use not specifically listed as permitted is considered to be prohibited. The result is a complete set of standards for the use of each property within the Township.
The Zoning Enforcement Officer inspects properties where non-permitted or prohibited uses are suspected, and may issue a warning or citation as appropriate to enforce the Ordinance. Any resident who suspects a non-permitted or prohibited use may contact the Zoning Enforcement Officer and file a complaint.
All complaints are considered to be anonymous. An investigation will be conducted to determine if the complaint is founded or not and will be dealt with accordingly. If necessary, a municipal court summons may be issued.
All zoning inquiries (i.e. what particular zone a property is located in) should be directed to Thomas Delia in writing via e-mail at zoning@longhillnj.us or fax @ (908) 647-4150. You will, in turn, receive a written response.
