FIREARMS REGULATIONS and PERMITS
General:
There are many State and Federal Laws that control the sale and possession of firearms, and this web site will not attempt to explain them. If you have any immediate questions pertaining to the firearm laws in New Jersey, please contact the Long Hill Township Police Department or visit the below listed web sites for additional information.
Application Process:
A Firearms application forms packet (Firearms Identification Cards, Handgun Purchase Permits, Name/Address change) may be picked up in the lobby of the Long Hill Township Police Department located at 264 Mercer Street, Stilring N.J. 07980. The Firearms application forms packet outlines the firearm application process, which includes the fingerprinting and background investigation process. Note: In order to qualify for any firearm permit request you must currently be a resident of Long Hill Township. Once the application is submitted, please allow eight (8) weeks for the completion of the background check to be completed.
To apply for a handgun carry permit, please contact any detective at the Long Hill Township Police Department at (908)647-1800.
