The Municipal Clerk attends and records meetings of the Township Committee, prepares, maintains and attests to official records of all action taken by the Township Committee, and serves as custodian of the Township's official records.The Township Clerk is also the Licensing Official and issues dog licenses, liquor licenses, raffles/bingo licenses, social affair permits, landlord registration forms, special event licenses; many of the applications may be obtained from the Permit/Forms page on the website. Elections

The Municipal Clerk is the Chief Registrar of Voters and serves as Chief Administrative Officer of elections held in the Township.

To obtain an application to register to vote or an application for a vote by mail ballot please click here to visit the Morris County Election website.

The Municipal Clerk is the Custodian of Records under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act. If you want to view or copy a public document, you should read our Public Records page, which contains the Township Policy, a link to the NJ law, background, exceptions, instructions, and a link to the Request Form. and also marriage/civil union licenses and certified copies of certificates which are on file.

MARRIAGE AND CIVIL UNION APPLICATIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY!!!
Please call 908-647-8000 ext. 211 to schedule an appointment.  You may apply up to 6 months before the event.

CERTIFIED COPIES OF BIRTH, MARRIAGE and DEATH CERTIFICATES

If you need a certified copy of a certificate for someone who was born, died or married in Long Hill Township, which includes Stirling, Millington, Gillette, Homestead Park and Meyersville (formerly known as Passaic Township), complete the Application for a Certification or a Certified Copy of a Vital Record form REG-3 and bring or send it to the Registrar's Office. Certified copies cost $10.00 each; cash or check is accepted.

Please fill out the applicable portions of the request form and provide a copy of Photo ID such as Driver's License if you are requesting your own record.

If Photo Driver's License is not available please provide two alternate forms if ID with address such as:

  • non-photo driver's license
  • vehicle registration
  • insurance card
  • voter registration card
  • passport
  • Green card
  • county ID
  • school ID
  • utility bill

If you are requesting a family members record please call ext:  211 or 215  to go over
what identification is required from you and if you are eligible to receive the record.

Certified copies are $10.00 each. Checks or money orders made payable to: Long Hill Township
